Dear Sportsman:We proudly offer you some of
the best hunting opportunities in Saskatchewan! The province is know
for its big bears and has a black bear population of 40,000 (est. 2004); a whitetail deer population of
375,000 (est. 04); moose population of 43,000 (est. 04). Saskatchewan sits on one of
the continent’s major waterfowl flyways; a flyway that ducks, geese, cranes
and other migrating birds take on their yearly migrations.
We are licensed to guide in
both Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Black Bear:
We hunt bear in northwestern
Saskatchewan, located about 500 kms
northwest of Saskatoon on Churchill Lake and Frobisher Lake. The area is
only accessible by boat or plane and therefore abundant with game and
wildlife. Our hunting area is outlined
here
(see Map).
We have had a 100% success
rate for the last five years, including 2006. There were three (3) Boone &
Crockett taken in 2006. Our bear rate 52% Pope & Young or larger.
The numerous black bears in this region range in colour from black to
chocolate brown and honey blond. Barrels in the hunting area, baited
with beaver, oats and bacon grease, help us
achieve a kill rate of 100%. Hunting with us will ensure that you will
see trophy bears. Several 'Boone & Crockett' bears are taken every
year with either rifle or bow and arrow. Ninety
(90%) of our guests to date, have been bow hunters. You will be hunting from a
tree stand next to a bait site
from 4:00 PM until dark. We will skin the bear for you and freeze it.
We will prepare Cites papers to export your bear hide at a later date or take
it to a local taxidermist for you. U.S. residents may take their trophy along
when they leave. The bear hunt is done out of cabins, located right on the
lakeshore of Churchill Lake, with more cabins available on Frobisher Lake. The
rustic cabins are heated with woodstoves and each cabin sleeps 8 hunters. Our
camp features a power plant, hot showers and outhouse. You can bring your own
sleeping bag or rent one for $20. Our fly-in tent camp is located on
Landsdowne and on MacIntyre Lakes located near Cree Lake. The camp is intended
for only 6 hunters per season.
Whitetail Deer: The same wilderness area is also
home to many Whitetail deer, which are hunted during the month of
November. We host about 30 whitetail hunters each year. We hunt with
ski-doos and all-terrain vehicles from various cabins located in areas which are
virtually unhunted since the access is very difficult. The success
for whitetail scoring 140+ 'Boone & Crockett' points is almost guaranteed
because we bait the deer with oats and alfalfa. On average our hunters see 5
to 10 whitetail bucks per day from their tree stand (ground blind). Deer
scoring 190+ 'Boone Crockett' points are taken every year in that part of
Saskatchewan.
Moose: Our moose hunt is done out of the same cabins as
the bear hunt. We hunt the lakeshore by boat and call moose. Moose trophies
from our hunting district reach an average spread of 45 inches. We are proud
to achieve a kill rate of 75%. We will cape the head for you and freeze it.
You will have to supply your own containers in order to take your trophy and
your meat home.
Migratory Birds:
Migratory Bird hunting is offered in both Saskatchewan & Alberta. The goose
hunting is within a migratory fly-way south of Marsden Saskatchewan on the
Alberta and Saskatchewan border allowing you to take your daily limit in both
provinces. The price includes accommodations, home cooked meals and bird
cleaning right on the farm, where the hunt takes place.
Transportation:
Recommended transportation to our camps is by air. You would fly into
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan airport. The Saskatoon facility has a direct link with the
Minneapolis/St. Paul American hub airport. To hunt big game rent a car or truck and drive to
the community of
Buffalo
Narrows (Google Maps) Saskatchewan; approximately a 5 hour drive. For
migratory bird hunting, your drive to Marsden will take you
approximately 2 hours. We will look after
you from there.
